Kari Whitman is a highly-regarded celebrity interior designer for homes and commercial spaces who established her full-service firm in 1994. As a residential interior designer, Kari's work has caught the attention of Hollywood's A-list of celebrities, and clients include Jessica Alba, Virginia Madsen, Emilio Estevez, Don Henley, Mario Lopez and Kristen Bell, among others, who are drawn to her trademark eclectic style.
Kari has always had a passion and affinity for design, rearranging her bedroom constantly as a child, and even moving hotel furniture on vacations. Though she may not have realized her path would lead to a career as an interior home designer, it's something she's always been drawn to and for which she has a natural ability. Kari excelled in architecture and art classes in school, but is entirely self-taught as a designer. In fact, she is one of the few residential interior design members of the prestigious American Society of Interior Design (ASID) who is not a graduate of a design school.
Kari's celebrity interior design ideas are always as earth-friendly as possible, incorporating innovative “green” products and concepts. She's designed entirely eco-friendly rooms for many of her clients, integrating the latest green products with beautiful furnishings. Kari also creates pet-friendly spaces for her animal-loving clientele. Her home interior design ideas include durable fabrics and scratch resistant surfaces that are both elegant and “paw friendly”.
Kari's work as an celebrity interior designer has been featured in publications like In Style, Home and Décor and In Touch, among others. Kari also hosted her own show Designer to the Stars on the WE Network, was a featured residential interior designer on The Dude Room on The Discovery Channel, and is currently developing several new shows about her eco- and pet-friendly designs for celebrity clients. Additionally, she has been a special correspondent for Extra and has appeared on The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition and Hollywood Green. She was a regular columnist on design in Dog Fancy magazine and wrote a column on “living green” for In Style.
As a home interior designer, Kari is known for incorporating architectural salvage pieces, art and artifacts from around the world. She mixes antiques and contemporary styles, and the result is always a high-end reflection of her clients' individuality and passions
